25 years have been past as Bhopal gas tragedy still haunts the country. But today it was Mumbai who was affected with the Chlorine gas leak at Port trust. But thank god no one was killed.
It was a nightmare for the city when a part of the South Mumbai woke up with the news of a toxic Chlorine gas leak. The gas leaked from a cylinder kept at the Mumbai Port Trust at about 3.15 am today morning. This leak was contained after 6 hours at 9 am.
This gas leak caused acute respiratory distress, faces and eyes stinging, gasping for breath. The hospitals were not ready to cop up with the situation and the stream of patients were begging for help.
The gas leaked at the Mumbai Port, it was stored at warehouse were hazardous cargo is kept. The latest news stated that about 70 people are hospitalized and eight are reported to be in critical condition.
Among the victims are the students of a hostel located near that warehouse at which this incident took place. Labourers who were sleeping outside the dormitories were also affected by this hazardous gas.
