Six Indian wrestlers who were charged with doping have also got their B Samples tested positive and now they’ll have to appear before the anti-doping disciplinary panel for hearing on the issue. This is really a big set back for Indian wrestling challenge as the Delhi Commonwealth games are approaching and only a month or so left in the games.
Six wrestlers got their A samples positive for the banned substance known as ‘methylhexanamine’ which is included in the prohibitive drug list of World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) this year.
These wrestlers are Arjuna award winner Rajiv Tomar (120kg), Mausam Khatri (96kg) and Sumit (74kg) in the men’s freestyle and Gursharanpreet Kaur (72kg) in the women’s section. Rahul Mann (60kg) and Joginder Singh (120kg) were the other two wrestlers who were charged for doping. All of these wrestlers were part of the Commonwealth Games wrestling squad which are scheduled to be held in Delhi from October 3 to 14, 2010. They all are suspended till the next hearing.
