Gill today announced that the cash award for medal winners in Commonwealth Games and Asian will be Rs.20 lakh for gold medal, Rs.10 for silver and Rs. 6 lakh for Bronze medal winner.

This prize money has been doubled to motivate players from different fields. Sports Minister M.S. Gill announced this in the Conference of State Ministers for Youth Affairs and Sports which held today in New Delhi.

Gill also appreciated the efforts of state governments for implementing Panchayat Yuva Krida Aur Khel Abhiyan (PYKKA). Which helps players and athletes to come out from there home and show there talent to the world and play for there country.

Sports Minister appreciated the efforts made by the Government of Madhya Pradesh. MP Government has set up several professionally managed sports academies. For these efforts the state will be awarded Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puraskar for 2010.

M.S. Gill also announced the schedule for National Youth Festival. These festival will be held at Udaipur from 12 January, 2011 to 16 January, 2011. For this purpose the ministry will provide a fund of Rs. 2 crore to the Government of Rajasthan.

Gill also announced that from now onwards one award will be awarded to the state for best performing state for sports development.
