The Delhi School of Economics established and came into existence in 1949. A group of visionaries led by Prof. V.K.R.V. Rao and were supported by India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, started a project to make a centre for advanced studies in the field of Social Sciences.
Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi comprises the departments of economics, geography and sociology.
