No big announcement was expected and none came in the Railway Budget 2010. Mamta Banerjee’s railway buget has a lot of Social Welfare projects and reiteration of the projects that are in the pipeline.
So does the budget actually have anything for a common mam? To start with, no change in passenger fares. Service charge on sleeper class has been cut to Rs 10. And you could look forward to ten new Duranto and 54 new trains in FY11 and also addition of some double-decker trains. There will be 101 new suburban trains for Mumbaites.
