According to a recent survey by the IAMAI (Internet and Mobile Association of India) and the IMRB (Indian Market Research Bureau), the total number of Rural Internet users in India has reached to 5.4 million in 2010 which is 30% more as compared to 3.3 million in 2008. We now have about 5.4 million peoples who users Internet in Indian villages.
This number is not very impressive when it comes to Indian population but the fact is that the number shows a growth of about 30% Internet users as compared to previous years.
The numbers of Internet users in villages are calculated on the basis of their activeness online or those who have logged on over last 30 days in Indian villages. An interesting fact that might amaze you all is that 67% of the people who access Internet in rural India searches for music and video content. Users in Rural India mostly uses internet for educational purposes and to search for information using search engines.
Some significant number of searches in villages is to learn more about farming and new technique used in farming. It seems like Rural Internet users in India will soon spearhead the Internet revolution in villages of India at the rate which it is growing.
