Suresh Kalmadi and Lalit Bhanot sacked from CWG OC

f8dae14e076434aaedaffee48118 grande 300x201 Suresh Kalmadi and Lalit Bhanot sacked from CWG OCSuresh Kalmadi, Chairman of the Commonwealth Games Organizing Committee and Lalit Bhanot, Secretary General of the Organizing Committee were sacked today. Both were sacked in the interest of impartial and unhindered investigations into allegations of corruptions in conducting the Commonwealth Games.

The new Sports Minister of India Ajay Maken took this decision of removing the top CWG OC officials. Maken has barely spent five days in the ministry after taking charge.

Ajay Maken said that Kalmadi and Bhanot have been removed in the light of the ongoing investigations on them by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). These investigations are carried on Suresh Kalmadi and Lalit Bhanot due to the allegations of corruption and irregularities in conducting Commonwealth Games in Delhi last year.

Jarnail Singh will take charge from Kalmadi, as Suresh Kalmadi has been directed to hand over his charge to Jarnail Singh who is the chief executive officer of the Organizing Committee, who is also a Member of the OC’s executive board.
