Apple has introduced the whole new range of i-pods with are 6th Generation. The new i-pods are as follows:-

1. The all new i-Pod Nano with Multi-Touch display of 1.5 inch.

2. New i-Pod shuffle with play/pause, forward/backward and volume up/down buttons integrated and Voice over feature.

3. The new i-Pod touch has HD Camera with front camera as well. State of the art fun with Retina Display and FaceTime.

4. The all new Apple TV  has also been introduced which is  HDMI ready.

Intel to purchase Infineon’s wireless unit

infineon logo 300x157 Intel to purchase Infineons wireless unitIntel ‘World’s largest chip maker’ is ready to seek and boost their presence in smartphones as they agreed to acquire Infineon Technologies’ Wireless Solutions business at the cost of whooping $1.4 billion. This announcement was made late Sunday by the company.

Intel CEO Paul Otellini in a statement said, “The demand for wireless solutions globally continues to grow at an extraordinary rate with rapid pace”. He also added “With the acquisition of Infineon’s Wireless Solutions business, strengthens the our second pillar computing strategy–Internet connectivity–and enables us to offer a portfolio of products that covers the full range of wireless options from Wi-Fi and 3G to WiMax and LTE (4G).”

Infineon was ranked 4th largest company for the cellular-baseband shipments last year in 2009. The company has 10.7% unit share according to a report by Linley Group. This German based company i.e. Infineon is a major supplier to Nokia, Apple, Samsung and many others.

Earlier Intel announced this month to acquire Security Software vendor McAfee at $7.68 billion. Intel expects to become standalone wireless unit to support existing customers and to include ARM-based products as well as Intel application based processor platforms with 3G solutions

Google testing voice calling in Gmail

GoogleCL 300x211 Google testing voice calling in Gmail‘Search Engine Giant’ Google could soon launch a voice-calling feature integrated in Google Chat that can resemble user interface used in Google Voice.

If CNET is write then according to them, Google is ready to turn Gmail into communication Hub by adding a feature to make a phone call from Google Chat interface itself.

From the sources ‘CNET’ has learnt that Google might testing a new Web-based service within Gmail that will allow users to make phone calls from Gmail Chat interface. Google has previously launched a Google Chat window, which allows user to send and receive calls from their contact list members.

Google has been doing experiments with this and edging in the direction from quit some time. Google Talk was released years ago as a VoIP desktop client.

By the steps of Google it is not clear that Google Voice might change or this new service is completely separate offering by Google. The user interface appears same as Google Voice. Also the users of the new chat/phone call service aren’t required to have a Google Voice account, and calls placed to U.S. or Canadian numbers will be free, with discounts on international calls as compared to standard rates.

On asking about the new feature a Google representative said, “Google is always testing new features and products, but we have nothing specific to announce right now”.

mobile number portability 300x300 Mobile number Portability from October 31, 2010Mobile number portability will be ruled out from October 31, 2010, India’s telecom regulator said today here in New Delhi. Mobile number portability (MNP) will be implemented across the country as announced earlier on 31st October, without any further delay.

Mobile Number Portability (MNP) is a service that allows you to change your network provider without changing your number. So the conclusion is that Form Oct 31, Vodafone orAirtel or BSNL or TATA or Reliance or any other network service provider, your cell no. wont’ change.

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) Chairman J S Sharma said, “There will be no further delay in the implementation of MNP”.

The Department of Telecom (DoT) has asked the operators to make sure that they complete all test regarding porting the numbers from one service provider to another before September 1, 2010.

All Mobile service providers in India i.e. Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, Reliance, Essar, Aircel, Tata Tele, Idea and STel are ready to launch 3G spectrum from next month.

The MNP was to be implemented in all the four metros as well as in the states of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka before December 31, 2009 but the deadline was later changed to March 31, 2010 and after that to June 30, 2010.
